Working with glass in Small Metals Area
- Cutting/grinding glass should be done on the the stainless steel work tables in Small Metals Area
- Never use the wood tables (to avoid getting glass embedded in the wood surface)
- You don’t need authorization to use the tables
- Always wear safety glasses
- For soldering safety, you can get portable table-top fume extractors from the Electronics Area.
- Return all tools and materials to the Areas where they live: Arts, Electronics, etc.
- You'll need to be able to clean up all the glass dust and debris, for your own safety and the safety of everyone who uses the space after you.
- Wipe up the glass dust and pieces with a wet towel or sponge.
- Do not use a brush, broom or vacuum, because these can disperse glass dust into the air.
- If using a sponge, dispose of it, or keep it with the glass items for re-use. Don’t leave it by the Small Metals sink.
