This Juki Serger is a preconfigured high-speed serger for quick use. It does a few things such as chopping off excess fabric, and a 5 thread overlock stitch. The stitch created is 3/8" from the cutting point, so 1/2" seam allowance should be left. Lightweight to mediumweight material is typically recommended for this. This machine excels at finishing edges of fabric that may fray.
Please do not attempt to change the thread, this serger is meant to be quick and easy to use. If other colors of thread are needed, please use a serger found under the fabric table/ general workspace table.
safety note
The machine is actuated by a clutch, and the motor flywheel will continue to spin for some time after the machine is put into the 'off' state. For this reason, it is good practice to only put your foot on the foot pedal when you are ready to sew
getting authorized
The Juki MO-3616 is part of the Tier 1 sewing authorization. For this, a canvas course must first be taken. Afterwards, there is an in-person authorization that is required and is scheduled to happen roughly once a month. This is coordinated in the discord channel #sewing. Authorization covers basic usage and safetey considerations
